Countdown begins for Subaru’s front-wheel-drive electric SUV!

Ana sayfa / News

For years, the Subaru name meant only one thing to drivers: All-Wheel Drive (AWD). But as the brand delves deeper into the world of electric vehicles, it’s surprisingly breaking that long tradition. Subaru has officially announced that its new entry-level electric crossover, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted, will arrive at US dealerships early next year with a starting price of €29,872, about €3,000 less than the current Solterra model.

Like the Solterra, the Uncharted looks quite familiar. This is because the new Subaru is essentially a “facelifted” Toyota C-HR with different bumpers and headlights, and that’s where the differences end. Subaru used to be a bit more independent, but now it’s wearing its cousin’s old clothes. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, we wish Subaru had been a little more creative.

The entry point of the series is the Uncharted Premium FWD model, the first front-wheel-drive (FWD) Subaru sold in the US after a long hiatus.

For drivers who can’t leave Subaru’s legendary AWD heritage behind, the mid-level Uncharted Sport model starts at €33,969.

All versions are equipped with essential features such as LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and an electric tailgate, and offer a respectable ground clearance of 208 mm to handle challenging roads. Inside, a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a large 14-inch infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. Subaru’s comprehensive EyeSight driver assistance system, including features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Lane Departure Prevention, is also standard across the range.

Subaru offers the Uncharted with a high-range FWD option and a powerful AWD option, keeping the starting price just under €29,900, giving consumers a real choice. By offering this capable and feature-rich vehicle, the brand has managed to carve out a valuable niche in the growing EV market. If only the Toyota influence wasn’t so obvious.
